Earthquake tremors felt in Uttarakhand, center was near Pithoragarh: Know how much damage was done


Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand were shaken by the earthquake on Monday afternoon. It was a mild earthquake and the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 3.7 on the Richter scale. 

The earthquake was felt in Nachni area and Bageshwar in Pithoragarh district. Also, this earthquake was not very big so only mild tremors were felt, but it was not felt in other districts and only mild tremors have been reported due to very low frequency, no damage to property and life is. The Seismology Department said that the epicenter of the earthquake is in Munsiyari and its depth is 10 km.


This is not the first time that an earthquake has been felt in the region. Earlier on February 19, both the districts had felt the same. Its epicenter was at Didihat in Pithoragarh district at a depth of eight kilometers. Due to this, strong tremors were felt in Munsiyari, Madkot, Bangapani and Nachni areas of Pithoragarh and its effect was felt by the common people as soon as they came out of their homes.

Tremors of the earthquake were also felt in the district headquarters Bageshwar and Kapkot. There is no report of loss of life or property due to the earthquake. Due to the earthquake, soil was seen falling from the roofs of mud houses. Tremors were also felt in Pankhu, Didihat, Dharchula. According to the administration, the tremor of the earthquake was not felt in Pithoragarh district headquarters.
